The Quality of Light

Early light floods the lower fields, washing the trees with gold.

The begonia leaves are set aflame.
By evening the light is soft, retreating as shadows advance.

The clarity of the light and the coolness of the air both whisper of fall -- a blessed interlude in the heat and humidity of late summer.

It is hard to believe that it is mid-August, but I'm sure not complaining, just enjoying the mild days and cool nights.

Sorry, I stumbled upon your blog and couldn't help but say what beautiful photographs you take. What camera was used? The amazing descriptions help, too...I was not surprised when I noticed that you are an author ^_^

And you say you aren't a poet.

I told my husband this morning that it feels like the coming of autumn lately. Even the smell of the air hints at that season. But, alas, I'm sure the heat will return soon. For now, I just sit and enjoy the little break.

Hey, Pat, It's GLORIOUS weather!

And Heather and Wishing -- welcome! Come hang out as we talk of tomatoes and books and dogs and nature and chickens and weather and anything and everything.

Re photos: I have a Panasonic Lumix (with a 10x zoom)that is adapted to the meanest intelligence (me, when it comes to cameras) and I live in a very beautiful place. And I carry my camera with me almost all the time. Thanks for the kind words!

And you all come back, you hear?

Hey, Susan,

Poetical, maybe :-) Days like today do that to a body.
