The Long View

Another cold day, temperatures in the teens.
Morning snow gave way to blue skies;
By afternoon the clouds were rolling eastward.

Masses of pearly clouds mimicked
The snow-covered slopes . . .

And both blushed in the light of the setting sun.

Vicki

I love that 'long view' in the first photograph. What are the snow covered slopes in the distance called?

Beautiful pictures Vicki ... breath-taking view!

That's the Blue Ridge -- a section of a considerable mountain chain, Martin. (I always think of them as The Delectable Mountains -- seemingly so far off and so unattainable.)

Thanks, Pat. We are very, very cold over here. BBRRRR!

Lovely pics. Are theBlue Ridge mnts. close to you? Are you able to take the pictures from inside your warm home?

Hi, Carolr! Thanks for stopping by.

These pictures were taken from the upstairs window of my workroom (1-3) and our front porch (4). Our house faces due east and the view is always beautiful.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is about 40 minutes away by car.
