The Day After

The party's over...
The barn that was so full of life and color on Sunday . . .

. . .is empty.
Time to pull down the crepe paper, fold up the quilts . . . Time to inventory leftover plates, cups, and party necessities; to make a shopping list for next year's party (more balloons); and to return the wood working shop to its true purpose. . .

The beer keg is all but empty; the cider keg is gone;
and Shopping Cart Lady has only a few cups left...
Party's over.

Well, it looks like it was a great party, and I'll bet everyone there had a really good time!

What an amazing feast, Vicki! Surely you don't do ALL the catering yourself??? I love the way everything was so well organised and even signposted ;) Your Shopping Cart Lady is ever so cute!

It was quite a transformation seeing it all return to the woodwork shed! It's about the 'funnest' thing I've ever heard of :)

Did all the food get eaten up? I presume people brought signature dishes with them? Who found the golden egg? Do you make the beer yourself and the cider? Seems like a great way to celebrate Easter - if you have the space, which you do have.
One more question - Did you make all the quilts yourself? and why do you hang them up on this occasion? Is it significant or just a form of decoration for the walls of the barn?

Desiree -- We barbecue a lot of pork and provide a keg of beer (a friend brought the keg of cider) and a lot of hot dogs. All the rest of the food is brought by the guests -- what we call a 'potluck' -- There is plenty of food and most of it gets eaten. We are well organized because we've had this party for thirty something years!

Star -- there are three separate egg hunt, divided by ages -- I can't remember the names of the kids who found the eggs -- there are so many that I only barely know. No, the beer and cider are store-bought. But our friend Cory is beginning to do a little home brewing...maybe someday...

About the quilts -- actually, it's a long story. I think I'll do a post on that later this week!

What a beautiful setup for a party! I so wish that we had a barn or shop like that. Beautiful quilts and I just love the sculptures!

Shopping Cart Lady looks as if she is asking you to get a good day's rest! ;-)

One can see that there was a lot of work and love invested, with good organizational skills and humor thrown in. Love the first picture of the deflated balloon. ;-)

It looks such fun, especially for the children - they'll have such happy memories. It's always quite sad to take down all the trimmings after a party.
