Healing

John brings me lunch most days, and a can of hard cider (shhh!) It's a welcome treat and a chance for us to eat a meal together. Sub sandwiches, an occasional burger, a Greek salad from a nearby bistro . . . anything to escape institutional food.

On Tuesday the wind had blown the smoke from the ongoing forest fires away from us  and the temperature was mild so we went outside and he pushed me in my wheelchair all around the building.

There's a bit of autumn color remaining but the ongoing drought has been hard on everything.

Still, it was glorious to be out and breathing fresh air.

And taking pictures . . .

I also got out yesterday to the wound care center where they say the wound continues to make excellent progress in healing.

Maybe we could send the whole country there.

Hi Vicki . I am sorry to read that you are wheelchair bound. What happened to you? I hope that you are getting well again.

You aren't lucky to be there, but you are lucky to have such good support. And how nice to take pictures from your chair ... and then to post them.

Wil -- an accident back on Oct.3 left me with a broken ankle, a dislocated shoulder, and a deep gouge on the other leg. I can't use crutches because of the shoulder and the ankle is non-weight-bearing till the doctor gives an okay -- maybe in a couple of weeks.

Glad to hear you are mending well! And that you got outside to take some photos! They are excellent. Your accident sure gives me pause. Remember the saying "wear clean underwear in case you're in an accident?" Well I've been very good lately!

"Maybe we could send the whole country there.¨ So many countries would need the same kind of treatment...

If only.
Glad to hear that you are healing well, you may have to be fighting fit to deal with the consequences of recent events.

Vicki, here's hoping that your healing continues apace. So many weeks you've been there, but somehow you manage to keep a cheerful tone for your blog.

Loved seeing your photos, as usual.

I just finished taking a memoir class from Catherine Reid through the Great Smokies Writers. What a good teacher! What a great class. This won't be my last one. We are so lucky that you and other writers of the program are available to us! It was great to have the class actually up here in Burnsville.

Love always,
Deana the Queena
